Argentina's January-October poultry exports up 27 percent on year

Argentina's poultry exports in the first 10 months of the year totaled 117,817 tonnes, a 27 percent increase from the same period last year, the animal and food inspection agency, Senasa, reported on Monday (November 26, 2007).

The value of poultry exports from January to October rose 51 percent from the same period in 2006 to $149 million, Senasa said.

The principal markets for Argentina's fresh poultry exports were Chile and South Africa. Subproduct exports, including wings, feet and innards, were purchased mainly by China and Hong Kong. Germany and Holland were the primary destinations for Argentine processed poultry exports, according to Senasa.
