Entry of German pork to China, foreseeable
German and Chinese officials signed a veterinary agreement that may open China's door to German pork imports.
Gerd Mueller, German parliamentary state secretary, expressed optimism about the agreement and foresees breakthrough next year.
As part of the agreement, the two countries will cooperate in ensuring the safety and traceability of food. They will also exchange more information on diseases such as bird flu.
Germany expects a boost in food demand next year as Beijing hosts the Olympic Games.
