China's soy output drops while prices surge
China's average soy output dropped by 388.5kilogramme/hectare to 1,537.5kg/ha in 2007.
The price per 50kg of soy surged by US$4.33 to US$21.34, hitting a new high, according to the latest statistics from China's National Development and Reform Commission.
Meanwhile, the total cost per 50kg of soy output hiked by US$4.29 to US$17.86. Due to the decrease in the output, the cash earnings also declined by US$10.75/ha to US$410/ha, the lowest value in recent years.
