US Chipotle introduces naturally raised chicken in Nevada
Chipotle Mexican Grill in the US now serves naturally raised chicken in all its 28 Arizona restaurants, and naturally raised chicken and beef in its seven Nevada restaurants.
The naturally raised meats are from farmers who practiced more humane ways in animal husbandry. These chicken and beef were not given antibiotics or added hormones, and were instead fed with a vegetarian diet.
Steve Ells, founder and CEO of Chipotle, reiterates the company's move to serve responsible, gourmet food that is also affordable and delicious.
Chipotle currently serves more naturally raised meat than any other restaurant in the world. With more than 670 restaurants in the US, Chipotle will serve nearly 40 million pounds of natural meat this year.
The restaurant also serves natural pork while more than half serves natural beef. Natural chicken on the other hand is in more than 80 percent of its restaurants.
Chipotle started in 2000 and since then has steadily increased the amount of naturally raised meat it serves. The company pushes for a change in the food supply system.
