Vietnam's Jan-Nov 15 animal feed imports up 7.86%
From January-November 15, 2012 Vietnam spent nearly US$2.13 billion on importing animal feed and raw materials, increasing by 7.86% on-year.
In the first half of this month, the country bought products valued at US$156.84 million, compared to US$124.89 million in the same period last month, the General Department of Vietnam Customs said.
China, India, the US and Brazil were the main suppliers of animal feed and raw materials for Vietnam during the period.
Due to a heavy reliance on imported materials, price of animal feed in Vietnam is 20% higher than that in other countries in the Southeast Asian region, said the Vietnam Animal Feed Association.
Last year, Vietnam imported US$2.33 billion worth of raw materials to make animal feed, increasing by 7.2% from 2010.
