Russia bans Brazilian poultry
Russian authorities banned poultry products from 19 Brazilian companies.
Safety authority, Rosselkhoznador, said they discovered that poultry products were repeatedly defrosted and then refrozen in the ports of Santos and Itajai.
Authorities mentioned of continual warnings to Brazilian suppliers; but the food safety breaches continued.
Russian veterinary officials also pointed their concerns on one shipment of low-grade poultry products which could be contaminated with Salmonella.
Rosselkhoznador called on Brazilian authorities to prove safety measures taken before exports can resume.
