China's soy consumption ranks highest in the world
China's soy consumption surpassed that of the US at 8.63 million tonnes, accounting for 24 percent of the total global consumption at 35.62 million tonnes.
According to the 2nd International Oil and Oil-Bearing Crops Convention this month, China's soy output hit 6.38 million tonnes, 18 percent of the world's total 36.23 million tonnes.
Soy oil imports were 2.4 million tonnes from September 2006 to October 2007, taking up 24 percent of the world's total soybean trade volume.
