Philippines seen to hike meat imports by 20 percent
The continual appreciation of the Philippine peso can increase meat imports of the country by 20 percent in the next few months.
In 2006, the country imported about 43,000 tonnes of beef from Brazil and the US, 45,000 tonnes of pork from Korea, and 65,000 tonnes of buffalo meat from India. Other meat import sources are Australia, Netherlands, Canada, other European and South American countries.
