Vietnam's seafood exports gain US$5.5 billion in January-November

An estimated US$5.541 billion was earned by Vietnam's seafood export in the first 11 months of 2011, an on-year increase of 23.1%, the government's General Statistics Office (GSO) said Thursday (Nov 24).

In November, the country's seafood exports are expected at US$580 million, compared to US$604 million in October, the GSO said in a report.

During January-November, the Southeast Asian country has spent US$481 million on imports of aquatic materials, including US$58 million in October and US$60 million in November, the statistics showed.

Exports of seafood brought about US$5 billion to Vietnam last year. The country expects the exports to rise to US$5.5 billion this year.
