Milk Production Rises 20% in the Philippines
Philippine milk production in National Dairy Authority (NDA)-assisted areas expanded 20 per cent to 5.25 million liters in the first nine months of the year from the 4.39 million liters of the same period last year, according to NDA Administrator Salvacion Bulatao.
Bulatao said the growth showed the local milk industry's strength amid the financial slump being experienced by the country.
In comparison, total agricultural growth during the period stood at 6.82 per cent, with the livestock sub-sector inching up by 48 per cent.
3,450 cows managed by nearly 6,000 farmers produced 5.25 million liters of milk in NDA-assisted production areas nationwide.
