Estonia's meat prices drop on-year

Beef and pork became cheaper for purchasers in Estonia in October compared with October 2009, figures provided by Statistics Estonia show.

The average purchase price of beef in October dropped by EEK0.48 (US$0.04) from October 2009 to EEK25.79 (EUR 1.65, US$2.21) per kilogram. The price of pork dropped by EEK0.77 (US$0.07) to 23.84 (US$2.04).

Compared with September 2010, meat such as beef and pork became equally by EEK0.32 (US$0.03) cheaper.

During October, 28,900 pigs and 3,300 heads of cattle were purchased in Estonia, compared with 27,300 pigs and 4,300 heads of cattle in the same month a year ago.
