Finland eyes three-million-tonne 2010 grain harvest
Finland's grain harvest for this year will be at a total of three billion kg (three million tonnes), the smallest amount in this decade due to a drought, forecasted the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
That compares with its previous estimate from September of 2.9 billion kg and is down by 1.3 billion kg from grain crops a year ago.
"Dry weather took its toll on per-hectare yields, whereas a reduction in the total area of cultivated land reduced the yield of feed grains," it said.
