Syngenta receives approval for new corn technologies in Brazil

Syngenta announced that its GM corn traits MIR162 and Bt11xGA21 are now fully approved for cultivation in Brazil.

This follows the approval by the National Biosafety Committee and the 30-day clearance period.

The approval of these advanced technologies will offer Brazilian growers increased productivity, higher grain quality and reduced production costs, said Syngenta.

The efficacy and broad spectrum of MIR162 could help control the fall army worm, the main insect threat to corn in Brazil. The stacked corn trait Bt11xGA21 offers combined insect resistance and herbicide tolerance.
