Ukraine exports 10.4 million tonnes grain

Ukraine exported 10.4 million tonnes of grain between the beginning of the current marketing year July 1 and Nov. 19, 4.5 percent more than in the corresponding period in 2008, the agriculture ministry reported Monday (November 23).

Wheat exports during the period totalled 5.4 million tonnes compared with 5.2 million tonnes a year ago, barley exports totalled 3.37 million tonnes compared with 4 million tonnes a year ago, and corn exports totalled 1.5 million tonnes compared with 672,000 tonnes a year ago.

The agriculture ministry expects Ukraine to harvest this year 47 million tonnes of grain, compared with 53.3 million tonnes in 2008, and to export in the 2009-2010 marketing year 20 million tonnes of grain compared with 25.2 million tonnes in the 2009-2010 marketing year.
