Germany's rapeseed meal producer declares force majeure after damage
A force majeure on some rapeseed meal delivery contracts to customers was declared by German oilmill Prokon Bio-Ölwerk Magdeburg after damage to crushing machinery cut output at its plant in Magdeburg in East Germany.
The Magdeburg plant is only producing at about 50% of its 400,000-tonne a year annual rapeseed meal capacity, a spokeswoman said.
The production cut was likely to continue until late January, she said. Output at the plant's 275,000-tonne biodiesel unit was not affected, she said.
Rapeseed meal is an important animal feed ingredient.
