Russia has restarted discussions with Azerbaijani companies on supply of grain to Azerbaijan.
Russian Trade Representative in Azerbaijan Yuri Shchedrin has informed that a ban on grain exports introduced earlier has knocked the country from the list of leaders in the export of grain.
"Because of this ban, the share of domestic supplies of Kazakh grain now accounts for 90% of the Azerbaijani market of imported grain and Russian grain - just over 9%. Negotiations on signing of contracts for the growth of grain supplies to Azerbaijan are conducted actively," Shchedrin said.
The main partners of grain to Azerbaijan are Kazakhstan and Ukraine. Country's annual demand for grain is three million tonnes, of which one million tonnes is imported.
