Chinese 2009 grain output will be above 500 million tonnes
China's grain output will be above 500 million tonnes in 2009 supported by another bumper harvest, Zhang Ping, chairman of China's National Development and Reform Commission, a powerful economy planning administration, said Friday (November 20).
China produced 528.5 million tonnes of grain in 2008, up 5.4 percent on the year.
Government officials said earlier that China is on track to see a grain output increase for the sixth year in a row this year, but didn't give detailed figures for an output forecast.
