Saskatchewan harvest 97 percent done
Saskatchewan farmers continued to make good progress with the last of this year's harvest during the week ended Tuesday, according to the latest crop report from the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture released Thursday (November 19).
Provincially the harvest was 97 percent done, which compares with 92 percent complete the previous week. The northeast part of the province was still the farthest behind, at 91 percent complete, while farmers in the south were 99 percent done, according to the report.
Dry weather has allowed moisture levels to come down in some crops, but many are still being harvested in tough and damp conditions, said the report. As a result, farmers are also busy drying grain.
Fall field work, including baling straw, hauling bales, cleaning corrals, and bringing in cattle for the winter was also taking place.
