Russian pig breeding up 6 percent

 

 

Pig breeding in Russia has risen by approximately 6 percent in the first nine months of the year, with some large-scale pig farms having increased production by 12.5 percent according to agricultural minister Alexei Gordeyev.

 

Overall meat production grew by 4 percent, he added.

 

The leading meat producing regions are the Belgorod, Lipetsk, Penza and Moscow regions and the Krasnodar territory.

 

Accelerated development in livestock farming is one of the aims of the national project to develop industrial agriculture. The project is expected to boost meat production by 7 percent over a two-year period.
