Kenya dairy exports set to rise
Kenya would soon start exporting milk products to the Central African region.
President Kibaki also has plans of opening a milk factory at Kibarani, on the Mombasa island.
He expressed delight over the revived dairy industry in Kenya which was now selling milk to the rest of Africa. Though it was not clear, the factory he was referring to could be the giant Miritini Kenya Cooperative Creameries factory that was closed during the last regime.
Kibaki urged farmers and stakeholders in the livestock industry to ensure that only quality products were exported.
The President spoke at the Cooper Kenya Ltd headquarters in Kabete during the firm's centenary celebration.
The sector, however, remains vulnerable to drought and diseases, he said.
