Ukraine to harvest 11.6 million tonnes corn

According to forecasts of Ukraine's agricultural policy ministry, 11.6 and 1.6 million tonnes of corn and soy crops will be harvested, respectively.

Ukraine is finishing the harvest of corn, sunflower and soy. This was reported by the Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine, Mykola Prysiazhniuk.

The minister also noted that this year farmers harvested 7.2 million tonnes of wheat, 8.8 million tonnes of barley, 0.5 million tonnes of rye and 150,000 tonnes of buckwheat.

Prysiazhniuk noted that, due to abnormally hot summer, instead of the projected 46 million tonnes of grain, Ukraine will harvest around 39.5 million tonnes.

"However, the volume and structure of the harvest is a good reason to believe that food security will be saved in this country," the minister said.
