COFCO pork processing plant in Wuhan starts trial production
On Tuesday (Nov 20), COFCO Wuhan Meat Product Company's new 10,000 tonnes per year pork processing plant started its trial production.
Western-style low temperature meat products such as bacon, ham and sausage will be produced by the new plant. These items are becoming popular amongst the local population and are also in demand in the international market.
COFCO Wuhan Meat Product Company was established in September 2002. The company holds an inventory of 60,000 heads of hog and has a 120,000 tonnes/year feed mill in Jiangxia District, Wuhan.
In the next two years, the company's processed pork production capacity will increase to 50,000 tonnes per year with the opening of two other plants, making COFCO Wuhan the largest pork processing company in the central Chinese province of Hubei.
