Methionine price stays at record-low level in China
Prices moved lower during the week ended November 18.
Price quotes of imported dl-methionine moved lower to the range of RMB30.50-31/kg, while transacted prices softened to RMB30-30.50/kg.
Demand for methionine remained flat as feed millers and livestock producers limited purchases. Even though livestock prices were relatively stable of late, feed millers were reluctant to step up production while the outlook of the markets remained uncertain.
Methionine prices should remain around current levels in the near term.
Buying interest is expected to strengthen towards December as feed millers and livestock producers restock depleting inventories.
