Market analysis

Flat hog inventories, in conjunction with lower poultry feed consumption due to colder weather limited feed consumption in China. Lysine producers were more ready to negotiate prices amid prolonged weak demand.

In Europe, quotes for 2012 Q1 deliveries stayed in the range of EUR1.96-1.98/kg while spot prices of lysine rose further to EUR2-2.05/kg on tight supplies.

Market forecast

As buyers withhold buying with prices high, while supplies rise in the coming period as new producers start operation, China's lysine market is expected to stay soft.
