Russia's meat production up 4 percent in the past 3 quarters

 

 

Russia's meat production in January-September grew by four percent on-year, growing by 5,700 tonnes, Agriculture Minister Alexei Gordeyev said.

 

The pork industry saw the largest increase of about six percent, with major farms seeing production jump by 12.5 percent.

 

The leading meat producing regions are the Belgorod, Lipetsk, Penza and Moscow regions and the Krasnodar territory.

 

Gordeyev added that this year, Russia has also managed to reverse the decline in dairy production

 

Russia is accelerating its livestock development over the next two years and is expected to push up meat and milk production by 7 percent and 4.5 percent respectively.
