Degussa's new brochure "Standardized Ileal Amino Acid Digestibility in Broilers"

"Standardized Ileal Amino Acid Digestibility in Broilers" is the title of a new eight-page brochure released by the Degussa Feed Additives business unit, Duesseldorf, Germany. Diets based on digestible amino acids are more beneficial compared with those formulated on total amino acids. Feed ingredients could be used more efficiently and nutrient requirements could be met more accurately.

In the brochure, the principles of the ileal and fecal digestibility assays are described and compared. This includes also a discussion on the standardisation of the digestibility coefficients, for example, the correction for endogenous amino acid losses. At the heart of the brochure is a table containing the standardised digestibility coefficients for eleven essential amino acids for seven grains, seven plant protein sources and three animal protein sources. Data for the commercially available crystalline amino acids are also presented. Finally, the brochure is rounded off by recommendations on the optimum dietary standardised ileal digestible amino acid levels in broiler diets.

The brochure is available in English and Spanish. Order your personal copy at feed.additives@degussa.com
