Quiet market holds China vitamin C prices flat

Demand for vitamin C continued to shrink over the past weeks due to dwindling aquaculture production. Nonetheless, despite light trade, producers stood firm after cutting prices during late October while profit margins were low.

As of November 17, ex-factory quotes for coated ascorbic acid were in the range of RMB27-28/kg.

With aqua feed production contracting, and hog feed output unlikely to rise amid flat hog inventories, demands for vitamin C are unlikely to firm up in the coming months.
