Costa Rica and Spain seal fisheries-aquaculture partnership
Costa Rica and Spain have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will strengthen bilateral ties in fisheries and aquaculture.
Under the agreement, Spain will provide technical and legal assistance towards the establishment of a Marine Reserve Network on the Costa Rica coast within the initiative of the Ibero-American Marine Reserve Network.
The cooperation is expected to contribute to sustainable development and improves the effectiveness of seafood producers.
Both countries will promote technological exchange through training programmes, assistance and internships specialised for civil servants, fishers and aquaculturists.
They will also promote the joint participation in projects of research, development and development of production, trade, biotechnology, the aquaculture cadastre, the sustainable management of the environment and responsible fishing.
