Ukraine pig population up slightly in October

 

 

In October, Ukraine's pig population rose by 0.5 percent or 34,800 heads compared with September, to 7,497,200 heads as of November 1, 2009, the State Statistics Committee has reported.

 

Pig population in private farms fell by 0.1 percent or 3,700 heads to 4,167,700 heads, and rose by 1.2 percent or 38,500 heads to 3,329,500 heads in specialised farms, compared to September.

 

The pig population rose by 8.3 percent or 572,400 heads against November 1, 2008.

 

Specifically, pig population rose by 18.2 percent or 512,200 heads in specialised farms, and by 1.5 percent or 60,200 heads in private farms.

 

As Ukrainian News earlier reported, in September the pig population went up by 1 percent or 76,900 heads compared with August, to 7,462,400 heads as of October 1.
