China companies booked 14-16 soy cargoes last week

Chinese companies have booked 14-16 cargoes of soy import shipments in the previous week, up from around 11 cargoes in the preceding week, said an analyst report by Shanghai JCI late Friday (November 16, 2007).

All the shipments booked last week are scheduled to be delivered in December and January, the commodities analysis company said in the report.

Chinese private and state-run companies have stepped up soy imports in the international market to ease the rise in edible oil prices in China.

China is the world's largest importer of soy, and buys soy mostly from the US and South America.
