Ukrainian grain yield expected to total 55 million tonnes
Ukraine's grain yield will total 55 million tonne in 2011, the highest in history, said Agrarian Policy and Food Minister, Mykola Prysiazhniuk.
According to the minister, total supply of grain with taking into consideration of carryover stocks, making up 6.2 million tonnes, and forecasted import of 160,000 tons, is expected at the level of 60 million tonnes in 2011-2012 marketing year.
He also informed that the internal consumption need for this period according to calculations will make up about 26.7 million tonnes. "With the full provision of the domestic need and formation of the necessary carryover stocks, export of grain cultures is possible to the amount of 27 million tonnes over 2011-2012 marketing year," Prysiazhniuk added.
