Hulsenberger Zuchtschweine is now supplying quality gilts to German agricultural company Landwirtschaftsbetrieb Schwasdorf e.G, with the first batch delivered in early October.
The senior management team of Schwasdorf had been impressed with the productivity and outstanding health status of the ADN hyperprolific sows, which resulted in the supply deal.
Final contractual details were negotiated at the MeLa trade exhibition for agriculture and nutrition in Muhlengeez, Germany.
Parallel talks were conducted concerning the initial production cycle. SPF-Landrace nucleus breeding operation Bourget was chosen as the supplier for the operation.
The objective is to set the multiplier capacity at 600 grandparent pigs during the first phase. The intake will be split into two batches of 300 animals each in order to match the number of usable quarantine places.
The first 300 gilts arrived in Schwasdorf in early October. The second batch followed in calendar week 46. Insemination will begin in November, therefore the first breeding piglets can be delivered to the rearing facility from mid-May 2010.
Headquartered in Pinneberg, Germany, Hulsenberger Zuchtschweine markets top performing and prolific breeding pigs while providing advice on swine production issues. The company has a strong distribution system across Germany, and operates more than 20 German multiplier and rearing operations. Hulsenberger Zuchtschweine sells about 120,000 sows per year in collaboration with partner ADN.
