Germany's poultry sector steps up on production

Production in Germany's poultry sector has seen a marked increase, becoming one of the best value meats in the market.

During the third quarter of 2009, Germany produced 1.9 million tonnes of meat, up 1.8 percent on-year. The increase was due to a year-on-year five-percent or 15,700 tonnes increase of poultry meat production, which totals 330,200 tonnes.

The production of poultry meat reached a new all-time high and accounted for 17.3 per cent of total commercial meat production.
