Australia sees 2.3 percent fall in Q3 beef output
Australian Q3 2005 beef output totalled 513,835 tonnes, down 2.3 percent year-on-year and down 1.7 percent from Q2, the government's Bureau of Statistics said.
A total of 1.90 million cattle, excluding calves, were slaughtered in the third quarter, down four percent year-on-year and down 2.1 percent from the second quarter.
Meanwhile, Australian pork output was 97,045 tonnes in Q3 2005, down from 98,041 tonnes during the same period last year, according to the bureau.
Australia exported about two-thirds of its beef output mostly to the US and Japan.
