Supply from major producers had been tight for the past two weeks. One major producer's price was quoted at RMB 260/kg while quotes by smaller producers were at RMB 230-250 /kg.

In the north, prices of imported vitamin E were at the range of RMB217-222/kg while the prices for local products were between RMB212/kg and RMB217/kg. Prices in the south were higher, with cash-transactions priced slightly lower.

Prices of VE diverged as traders differed in stance on market direction. Some traders lowered prices together with an imported product; however, other traders stood firm amid news that some producers intend to temporary halt production.

VE prices are likely to remain at current levels as global and domestic demand stays weak.
