China corn prices generally lower on increased supply and bird flu concerns (Nov 17, 2005)
An eFeedLink exclusive report
Corn prices in China continued to move lower in the past week, generally by RMB10-20/tonne, due to the negative impact of bird flu on poultry production.
Recently, significant quantities of new crop corn that have been threshed were released into markets in the north-eastern production regions. Thus, corn prices there moved lower.
In the Yellow/Huai River production regions, corn prices continued to weaken due to sluggish demand and abundant supplies of new crop corn there.
Corn prices in the southern consumption regions also moved lower lately. This was due to an increase in quantities of new crop corn arriving from north-eastern and northern China, and recent weakness in livestock production.
