Ukraine Expected to Harvest 8.2 Million MT Corn in 2004

Ukraine is estimated to harvest 8.2 million metric tons of corn in 2004, compared with 6.88 million tons in 2003, according to a report released by the APK-Inform market analyst in Kiev Tuesday.

Ukraine planted corn on 2.56 million hectares, and the final harvested area will be 2.1 million hectares. The average yield is expected by APK- Inform at 3.9 tons a hectare.

Ukraine harvested 6.629 million metric tons of corn to Nov. 8 on 1.635 million hectares, 69% of the total area to be harvested.

The average yield to date was 4.06 tons a hectare.
