Vietnam's tuna exports generate US$364 million from Jan-Sep 2012

 

 

The top 10 Vietnam tuna exporters recorded sales abroad of over US$364.35 million in January-September 2012, representing 83.5% of the total value of shipments during that period.

 

This is according to figures from the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

 

Yueh Chyang Co kept the number one spot with total earnings of US$50.37 million, followed by Havuco with nearly US$46.52 million. Next came Thinh Hung Co, Ltd in the third spot with US$45.33 million and in the fourth place, Tin Thinh Co, Ltd with US$42.5 million.

 

Ranking fifth is Foodtech Co, Ltd with US$37.99 million followed by Hai Long Nha Trang Seafood Co, Ltd with US$33.85 million. In seventh place is Hong Ngoc PTE with US$28.99 million followed by Highland Dragon with US$28.7 million in earnings. In ninth place is Toan Thang Co, Ltd with US$27.2 million followed by Bidifisco in 10th place with revenues of US$22.95 million.

 

During the period of January-September 2012, Vietnam exported US$436.21 million worth of tuna, a rise of 53.2%. Exports to the US reached the highest amount at US$193.36 million, up 45.8% and accounting for 44.3%.

 

The EU imported USD$81.15 million worth of fish products from Vietnam, up 51.6% and taking up 18.6% of the total. Coming in third is Japan with US$46.2 million in exports and representing 10.59% of the total, followed by countries from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) at US$28.7 million and 6.6% of the market.

 

Next is China and Hong Kong with US$8.1 million in exports, taking up 1.86% of the market, and other countries at US$78.7 million and 18.03% of the market.

 

Tuna trade with all markets in the top 10 spots experienced growth, except for Iran with decline of 8.8%, though it reached a high growth in September.

 

In September 2012, Vietnam tuna exporters earned over US$40.2 million, up 76.7% compared to September 2011. The US was the key market for Vietnamese tuna with US$16.14 million in sales, up a whopping 92.4% and accounting for 40.1% of exports.

 

Tuna shipments to the EU surged by 52.3% to US$7.21 million, representing 17.9% of sales. Iran reached the highest import growth at an outstanding 1,509%. Japan was the only market that saw a drop in imports at 24.7%.
