Oxea unveils new Butyric Acid AF for feed sector

Oxea, the global chemical company, launches the commercial availability of its new product, Butyric Acid AF, produced and handled under Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP+ B2).

Oxea has recently been awarded the according certificate. Among other uses Butyric Acid AF is used as a raw material in the production of butyrates applied in the animal feed industry, supporting today's' trend towards the substitution of in-feed antibiotic growth promoters. During the GMP audit Oxea also has been awarded the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) certificate for its Butyric Acid production in Marl, Germany, for the fifth consecutive time.

"With the GMP+ B2 certificate for our Butryic Acid AF, we respond to the requirements of our customers in the feed market and at the same time strengthen our position as a market leader in oxo-based carboxylic acids. That we consecutively receive the HACCP certificate emphasises the high standards of our Quality Management System", said Miguel Mantas, member of the Oxea Executive Board.

Oxea aligns its processes according to the standards of GMP and fulfils the associated requirements.

Among other things, this includes the application of a quality control-system on a HACCP basis, transparent manufacturing processes, the compliance of hygienic standards, a gapless documentation of the production process, the traceability of raw materials and products (Early Warning System) as well as the usage of GMP suitable transporters.

Oxea shows a good integration of the GMP requirements into the existing Quality Management System, which is already certified with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

In the 12 months ending June 2010, Oxea generated revenue of about EUR 1.1 billion with its approximately 1,350 employees in Europe, the Americas and Asia.
