Methionine price stays at record-low level in China
Prices were marginally lower during the week ended November 12.
Price quotes of imported dl-methionine edged down to the range of RMB31-31.50/kg, while transacted prices were in the range of RMB30.50-31/kg.
Dealers reported that buying interest improved of late but large volume purchases were scarce. Methionine market remained soft with supplies ample, but prices had little scope to fall further at current record-low levels.
Methionine prices are unlikely to reduce prominently with producers' profit margin low. In the coming period, buyers are likely to restock depleting inventories accumulated during late September, hence strengthening prices gradually.
