Hy-Line to relaunch White Leghorn W-36 hen with India

US-based company, Hy-Line International, initiated talks with Indian companies in re-launching the W-36 or the White Leghorn W-36 variety through Hyderabad-based Systematic Hatcheries.

Hy-Line president and CEO, John A. Greaves, said that India has a lot of potential in poultry products consumption, thus the series of talks with key players in the country.

India, according to Greaves, has per capita egg consumption of 40. Consumption levels of Mexico, China and Japan are beyond 300. If India will consume half, 400 million more layers would be needed.

Greaves also pointed out that the W-36 has been known for its efficient egg laying abilities and has a 70-percent market share in the US and 30 percent in the global market. W-36 has high output with minimal feed consumption.
