Hypor delivers largest shipment of live pigs to China

Canadian-based Hypor, one of the world's top pig breeding companies, delivered the largest single shipment of live pigs to China by air.

The breeding stock of 816 pigs came from the company's farm in Saskatchewan, Canada via Chicago and landed in Qingdao, Shandong province in China.

The shipment is the first stage of Hypor's joint venture with farms in China.

The logistics, according to Marc Broadbent, manager of Hypor China, was commendable as all 816 pigs arrived alive and in good health. Upon arrival in  China, production manager Geert Rutten and farm manager Wenbo Zhang moved the high-health animals to the farm. It took fifteen flat bed trucks to transport the pigs.

The Hypor JV pigs are now in their new home and Hypor expects to start production by the middle of December.

Hypor is one of the world's leading suppliers of swine genetics with breeding centers in North America, Europe and Asia.
