McDonald's Australia pushes for more chicken

McDonald's Australia announced to expand its chicken menu which will ramp up competition in the country's US$2billion fast food chicken business.

The company said yesterday that the added variety of chicken would include breast fillets in strips, wraps and burgers --- a very significant move since the introduction of salads four years ago.

McDonald's discussed to double its chicken business by 2010. The push for more chicken options has been based on increased customer demand.

A research showed that chicken consumption has grown faster than beef and fish over the past seven years. The fast food chicken market has increased by 34 percent since 2002.
