US pork exports record 8 percent for September

 

 

US pork and pork variety meat exports registered an 8-percent increase in volume to 101,131 metric tonnes and 10 percent increase in value to US$251 million on-year.

 

For the first nine months, USDA reported pork export volume to reach 905,392 million tonnes valued at US$2.2 billion, achieving a 7-percent increase from last year.

 

Japan is the leading market for US pork, accounting for more than 30 percent of total export volume and 40 percent for total export value.

 

Meanwhile, US beef and beef variety meat exports also increased by 17 percent in volume to 562,781 million tonnes and 29 percent in value to US$1.9 billion on-year.

 

Mexico remains to be the top market for US beef, although the export volume this year is 5-percent lower than that of last year.
