US milk output forecast for 2012 raised by 100 million pounds
US milk output forecast for 2012 has been raised by 100 million pounds (45 359 tonnes) due to higher estimated milk per cow in the third quarter.
Forecasts for the remainder of 2012 and 2013 are unchanged from October.
In its November World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates (WASDE) report, the USDA projected this year's milk output at 199.7 billion pounds, up 2% compared with the 196.2 billion pounds produced in 2011.
