UK keeps the lid on bird flu
The latest outbreak of the bird flu virus originated from the Redgrave Park Farm as confirmed by the Department of Environment Food and Rural Affairs (Defra), thus the immediate slaughter of around 6,500 birds in the area.
Authorities in UK said that it was the deadly H5N1 strain inflicting the birds. A 3km protection zone and a 10km surveillance zone have been set up. Officials said that around 5,000 turkeys; 1,000 ducks; and 500 geese will be slaughtered within the day.
