Private analytical firm Informa Economics estimated 2008-09 US corn planted acreage at 88.9 million acres and soy planted acreage at 68.1 million acres, traders said Tuesday (November 13, 2007).

The corn planted acreage estimate is down from the 93.6 million acres seeded by US farmers in 2007-08 according to the US Department of Agriculture, while the firm's soy planted acreage estimate is larger than the 63.7 million acres planted this year.

The firm estimated US 2008-09 all wheat acreage at 64.1 million acres, up from the 60.4 million planted in 2007-08.

Tuesday's corn and wheat acreage estimates are up from the firm's previous acreage outlook, while soys are lower. In October, Informa estimated 2008-09 corn acres at 85.8 million, soys at 71.7 million and all wheat at 63.7 million acres.
