Zambia's poultry to increase by 50 percent due to international demand

Zambia's poultry industry is projected to grow by more than 50 percent in the next two years due to higher demand in the international market, according to Times of Zambia.

The Poultry Association of Zambia (PAZ) executive manager Matthews Ngosa said that the local poultry industry had the most growth progress in the region since it can meet international standards.

Ngosa also said that the poultry sector of Zambia was undergoing an expansion programme to meet market demands domestically and internationally. Under an expansion programme, processed products are expected to increase from 16 million birds in 2000 to 26 million in 2007.
