More bird flu breaks out in Egypt
 

 

More cases of bird flu has broken out in Egypt, this time in in Luxor, a town some 680 km south of Cairo, according to the Egyptian Ministry of Health.

 

Tests on domestic fowl at a local lab showed the samples were positive for the highly pathogenic strain of bird flu.

 

The area has been quarantined, chickens are being culled and those suspected to have come in close contact with the fowls have been checked by doctors.

 

Egypt has had seven human fatalities from bird flu, the latest case occurring just a month ago.

 

Egypt was first hit by bird flu in mid-February. 20 of the country's 26 governorates were hit back then. The country's first human bird flu case was reported in March.
