China to start poultry product spot checks in 16 provinces
 

 

China will start a special spot check on poultry products and disinfection products to prevent the spread of bird flu, the country's State Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine announced Nov 13.

 

The inspection will cover 16 provincial areas: Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Shanghai, Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangxi, Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Liaoning, Guangdong,Guangxi, Qinghai and Xinjiang.

 

Cooked poultry products produced after Oct 1 will be examined, and as well as disinfection products such as bleaching powder, caustic soda, and potassium permanganate to ensure these products meet national quality standards.

 

The administration will also look out for illegally processed poultry products from bird-flu affected areas.

 

If found, the unapproved products will be destroyed immediately, while the producers and traders of these products will also be punished severely, the administration warned.
